Wetland Sketches
Saturday, February 2, 2019
This is a project of people sharing sketches for wetlands. The event will stem from an installation in Edinburgh College of Art. Everyone is invited to contribute 'Sketches for Wetlands’. We'll be using #wetlandsketches to highlight our sketches on social media. It can be anything, a little drawing, piece of writing, story or a squelching sound =)) . Please add anything you'd like to create for this day - or you might already have something relevant. Your contributions will be shown on a screen at the installation. Two artists are leading this event - Kate Foster will be contributing from Southern Scotland and Pantea Armanfar's installation will be on show February 2nd, 3rd, 4th at the cinema space of Art, Space and Nature studio in Edinburgh College of Art. The installation will run between 4 to 6 p.m. It is dedicated to the single Siberian Crane that has been taking a two-month fly of 5000 km from Uvat in western Siberia to Fereydunkenar in Iran for the past few years. Since he is the only one remaining to take this route. Pantea says: "I remember his mate when I was a kid on news showing both of them then) he has been called "Omid" by the locals which means hope in Persian. Last month he re-visited "Fereydunkenar" wetland and the locals celebrated his presence who brought hope with himself.'
