Collaborative management meeting of the Iran's wetlands

World Wetlands Day has been celebrated on February 2nd (equivalent to Bahman 13) since 1997. The Ramsar Convention Secretariat has recommended that various programs be organized at the level of member countries to draw more attention to the importance and services of wetland ecosystems and to collaborate in addressing the threats and challenges facing this sensitive ecosystem. To this end, the Faculty of Natural Resources at the University of Tehran intends to host the World Wetlands Day meeting this year. This meeting will be held in collaboration with governmental, civil, academic, and private sector entities. The first brainstorming session for this event took place on Monday, Bahman 1st, with representatives from the Office for the Protection and Restoration of Wetlands, the Department of Environment Protection, the General Department of Environmental Protection of Alborz Province, the Environment and Sustainable Development Commission, the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, the National Non-Governmental Authority of the Ramsar Convention in Iran, and a representative from the Association of Wetland Treasures of Iran at the Faculty of Natural Resources, where aspects of holding this event were discussed and exchanged. According to the outcomes of this discussion, the meeting is scheduled for Bahman 28, 1403, at the Faculty of Natural Resources, with attention given to the slogan for this day in 2025 (Protecting Wetlands for Our Shared Future). It was agreed to achieve national synergy and collaboration for effective participation in the annual Ramsar Convention meeting in 2025 (COP15). This meeting will take place with the support of the Scientific-Student Association of the Environment, and the side events of this meeting have been entrusted to this association. It is hoped that this gathering will provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas, exploration of innovative solutions, and strengthening inter-sectoral cooperation for the protection and restoration of the country’s wetlands.
