WETLANDS LISTENING - SOCIETY - PARTICIPATION
lunes, 2 de febrero de 26
According to Scientists, healthy habitats sound dense and coherent with acoustic niches. Based on this hypothesis, the CSEM Ghana (Center for Soundscape Ecology and Multimedia Ghana) emerging NGO will be conducting realtime listening exercises involving communities where wetlands are situated. This year, on World Wetlands Day, the Apenkwa Wetland in the eastern region of Ghana will be in focus- a pair of omnidirectional microphones and multiple channels of headphones will be connected to a dedicated field recorder set with 32 Bit float (without distortion of sound with loud voices) and in WAV format for the community to listen to. The listening is in high fidelity and participants can perceive all details in acoustic information emanating from species thriving in the wetland. This immersive participative listening exercise will be conducted at dawn, daytime, and in the evening, and later published on the global Soundmap, Radio Aporee. Feedback from participants will be gathered and a workshop on wetlands, their importance, and their protection will be organised with participants at a later date.
