REPORT: Ecological Quest about Wetlands for school students - 2021

Last year the Department of eco-educational work of the Park started a new format event – it’s cognitive and interesting game-quest about biodiversity of the wetlands of the Dniester Delta for school students and eco-active youth. This year we’ve updated and imroved the content and concept of these quests. Rules of our eco-quest are simple: three teams complete various tasks on ten points, answer the questions, using play-cards with images of the inhabitants of the Dniester wetlands, maps, crossword puzzles and receiving colored chips for solved task. We’ ve held games for pupils of 3 schools of Odessa region. At first the quest has been carried out for schoolchildren of the educational complex "Mayakivsky" on February 19. There this game becomes our good tradition and at all that event is continuation of our long-term cooperation with the educational complex and eco-community of Mayaky. Next game has been held on February 22 in Bilyayivka at the secondary school №1, where instead of three, four teams from four classes decided to compete. Creative and very active children demonstrated their perseverance and ability to overcome difficulties in an extraordinary way. The last Friday of winter we spent with the students of Yaskivska secondary school. Children from sixth and eighth grades were invited to the game. And the results of each of the three teams are almost the same. And it’s worth noting, there are no winners or losers in this game, because the knowledge and intelligence demonstrated by the participants of all teams is the most valuable reward for each pupil, their teachers, parents and of course for us. As always, all participants of the quest received prizes from Lowerdniester national nature park – new souvenir magnets from the series "I live here!" and "I grow here!" with images of Park’s inhabitants, and each team was presented with bright posters provided by Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Of Ukraine. We hope children joined the knowledge about the wetlands of the Dniester Delta and got positive emotions and new experience. Also we are grateful to the all teachers for their help in the organization.
