Aleutian Cackling Goose Recovery Project
Aleutian Cackling Goose Recovery Project
Wednesday, March 1, 23
Aleutian Cackling Geese (ACG) are facing the problem of extinction. This project is to bring them back to “Nanakita Wetland”, rice-paddy area ranging from eastern Sendai city and Tagajo city, where flocks of ACG migrated to winter till 1935.
High school students from Sendai Ikuei Gakuen, whose school building is located in Nanakita Wetland, experience ACG Observation Activities and learn more about ACGs and their habitat with the support of Japanese Association for Wild Geese Protection (JAWGP) and collaborative members. Now, the students are exchanging their opinions, "How to develop ACG Recovery Project", "How to communicate with the local people to raise public awareness" and "What we can do for that".
