Wetlands

Land areas that are saturated or flooded with water either permanently or seasonally.

Inland wetlands:

 Marshes, lakes, rivers, floodplains, peatlands and swamps   

Coastal wetlands:

Saltwater marshes, estuaries, mangroves, lagoons and coral reefs

Human-made wetlands:

Fish ponds, rice paddies and salt pans
